Air Canada comments on Canadian Auto Workers vote

MONTREAL, Jan. 28 /CNW Telbec/ - Air Canada has been advised by the
Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) Local 2002 that the tentative agreement reached by
the parties January 14, 2009 was not ratified by its membership.
Since the current collective agreement remains in effect until May 31,
2009 in any event, the company awaits the completion of the CAW's internal
processes.
We respect the democratic processes of the CAW, and it is not appropriate
for us to comment further on the union's internal dialogue.

The CAW represents approximately 5,000 Customer Service and Sales Agents
employed by Air Canada. The tentative agreement also provided for a plan for
Air Canada employees working in the Aeroplan contact centres to transition to
Aeroplan or remain at Air Canada.
