Air Canada announces appointment of Bill Bredt as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
MONTREAL, July 14 /CNW Telbec/ - Air Canada today announced the appointment of Bill Bredt as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Bredt will report directly to Montie Brewer, President and Chief Executive Officer, with responsibility for the airline's Flight Operations, Flight Safety, In-Flight Service, System Operations Control and Air Canada Maintenance. "I am very pleased to welcome Bill back to Air Canada to assume this key role in overseeing the airline's operations," said Montie Brewer, President and Chief Executive Officer. "Bill's wealth of airline experience and solid leadership skills will further strengthen our management team as we strive to move the airline forward in this challenging environment. He has a proven track record and I look forward to his contribution in our drive towards operational and service excellence at the airline." Reporting to Bill Bredt will be Dave Legge, Vice President, Flight Operations; Susan Welscheid, Vice President, Customer Service - In-Flight, Call Centres and Customer Relations; Alan Butterfield, Vice President, Air Canada Maintenance and Engineering, and Douglas Scott, Senior Director, System Operations Control Oversight. Mr. Bredt returns to Air Canada where he began his career in 1973. He has held senior management positions at Air Canada in operations and marketing including Vice President, System Operations Control; Vice President, International, and Vice President, Network and Revenue Management. He joined Jazz Air LP in August 2004 as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Bredt will be based at the airline's Montreal headquarters, effective August 11, 2008. He replaces Rob Reid who has recently retired from the company.
