MONTREAL, Jan. 10 /CNW Telbec/ - Air Canada provides the following
statement regarding flight AC190:
    "Our focus today has been on those passengers who have been injured in
this incident and those other passengers on the aircraft for whom this has
been a very stressful experience," said Rob Reid, Executive Vice President and
Chief Operating Officer. "Safety is our first priority at Air Canada and so
any incident involving the safety of our passengers and crew is of utmost
concern. We will be cooperating fully with The Transportation Safety Board to
determine the cause of the incident.
    "We are very proud of the Air Canada flight crew of AC190 and our
employees on the ground in Calgary for their professional response to this
incident. We also commend the various agencies in Calgary who responded to
this incident quickly and professionally. Their actions in helping us take
care of our passengers is deeply appreciated."
    Flight AC190, en route to Toronto from Victoria, was diverted to Calgary
where it landed without incident at approximately 08:30 MT (10:30:00 ET)
today. The Airbus A319 was carrying 83 passengers and five crew members.
    Passengers and crew were immediately met by Air Canada teams and examined
by medical personnel. Of the ten individuals transferred to hospital with
non-life threatening injuries, at this time seven have now been released. The
remaining two passengers and one flight attendant in hospital are in stable
condition. Other passengers are continuing their onward travel.
