Air Canada reports record April traffic
Mainline passenger load factor of 83.2% - highest ever for April
MONTREAL, May 3 /CNW Telbec/ - Air Canada reported a record load factor
for the mainline of 83.2 per cent in April 2007, the highest ever for the
month.
The mainline carrier flew 3.5 per cent more revenue passenger miles
(RPMs) in April 2007 than in April 2006, according to preliminary traffic
figures. Capacity increased by 2.2 per cent, resulting in a load factor of
83.2 per cent, compared to 82.2 per cent in April 2006; an increase of
1.0 percentage point.
Jazz, from which Air Canada purchases regional capacity, flew
24.6 per cent more RPMs in April 2007 than in April 2006, according to
preliminary traffic figures. Capacity increased by 20.1 per cent, resulting in
a load factor of 74.0 per cent, compared to 71.3 per cent in April 2006; an
increase of 2.7 percentage points.
Year over year, system traffic on a consolidated basis for Air Canada and
Jazz, rose 5.1 per cent on a capacity increase of 3.7 per cent, resulting in a
load factor of 82.3 per cent; an increase of 1.1 percentage points.
"Air Canada achieved a record load factor of 83.2 per cent at the
mainline carrier and increased traffic 5.1 per cent system-wide, exceeding
capacity growth, during the month of April," said Montie Brewer, President and
Chief Executive Officer. "Our à la carte pricing and multi-trip subscription
flight pass products are attracting customers, and the major refurbishment of
our existing fleet combined with new aircraft deliveries is generating
positive customer feedback. I am proud of our employees who continue to earn
the loyalty of our customers while exceeding on-time performance objectives
for the month."
