Oct 01, 2018

As a partner of the Northern Lights Aero Foundation (https://northernlightsaerofoundation.com) that has for mission to create career opportunities in aviation for Canadian women, Air Canada has supported this organization in the celebration and recognition of 8 Canadian women at the 10th Annual Elsie MacGill Northern Lights Award Gala on Sept. 29, 2018.

We were proud to recognize one of ours this year, Julie Mailhot, the recipient of the 2018 Business Award for her significant contribution in her field. Julie was the first female Flight Dispatcher and eventually became the Chief of Operations, managing a group of 80 flight Dispatchers. She is currently the Chief Operating Officer at Air Georgian, a member of Air Canada Express. Also recipient of an Art of Excellence Award, she is also president of the Dreams Take Flight Toronto Chapter and has been involved with the charity for the last 21 years.

We have also given a special shout out to Kayla Slipperjack, one of the bursary recipients of Indspire's Air Canada Indigenous Student Award to the celebration along with a few other colleagues. We are proud to support her education in aviation at the First Nations Technical Institute and her aspiration to become a pilot.

Congratulations to all 2018 Elsie MacGill Northern Light Award winners!
